The H2Driven project was highlighted by Dourogás as a strategic initiative for the development of a national value chain associated with green hydrogen and renewable methanol.
The vision was shared by Nuno Afonso Moreira, CEO of Dourogás, Paulo Preto dos Santos, Executive Director, and João Filipe Jesus, Head of Corporate Finance, in an article published by Ambiente Magazine focusing on the challenges of the energy transition and the role of renewable gases in decarbonising the economy.
As a PRR Mobilising Agenda, H2Driven aims to help bridge the gap between research and innovation and industrial application, covering different stages of the value chain, from research and engineering to the production, logistics and final use of renewable methanol.
The project aims to demonstrate that green hydrogen and renewable methanol already offer tangible potential to support the decarbonisation of sectors where direct electrification faces greater limitations, namely energy-intensive industries, heavy-duty mobility, logistics and maritime transport.
Dourogás’ participation in the H2Driven consortium is based on its accumulated experience in the gas sector, its expertise in renewable gases, and its capacity to develop complex energy projects. Its contribution is particularly focused on the development of green hydrogen and renewable methanol and their integration into the needs of industrial consumers.
By bringing together companies, technology centres, universities and industrial expertise, H2Driven also aims to strengthen knowledge, engineering capabilities and specialised talent in Portugal, helping to position the country not only as a user of technology, but also as a developer of solutions and industrial capacity in the field of renewable gases.
